yesterday i gave the second workshop this month. this time it was a kind of furniture-making workshop for students from the school for social work utrecht. a group of 14 teachers and student build furniture out of wooden pallets to experience working in a team and the power of working with your hands, creating and making. two weeks ago i had a dozen students from the willem de koning academy in rotterdam and i talked about the reality of having your own business in the creative field. very nice to do from time to time.
just before the workshop had started i unloaded my van. in the morning i went to 'accsys' in arnhem to collect 1,5m3 of accoya wood for the project of the 'cradle to cradle' cityhall in venlo. i really have to get started now to get evrything finished on time. i already did some experimenting with the laser on wood and metal. the next few week i will show some more of this project.
for a client in dubai i had to make a very special mr'knox limited edition: painted in turquoise! very intersting to do and to see but somehow also very cool. especially because i could use my new paintspray pistol to realize it. he will be air-shipped soon to get to his new owner!
in between everything i also produced a new kind of blast furniture for a private client. i used pre-fabricated standard cabinets and used them as a kind of lego-blocks to construct bigger volumes. then i covered everything with sandblasted boards and doors. paintjob, ready!
i also got some very positive feedback from eneco about the models i produced for them last month. click here for a short video where you can see the models during their event.
tonight (thursday, may 19th) there is a opening in amsterdam at the gallery 'oode' of my friend marleen kurvers. she sells contemporary design and orphaned art of closed musea. i willpresnt a new blastcabinet in black and mr knox will be shown in her gallery for the first time. come and meet and greet if you like.
so far so good....greets, stephan
